“Yoga is an internal practice the rest is just a circus” ~ Sri Pattabhi Jois
If you’re a yoga beginner and want to further develop your practice in class and at home, it’s time to turn inwards.
When we start with yoga, we’re typically most concerned with putting the poses (asana) together – where the feet go, how to find strength and stability, where to flex and bend… Once we’ve been practising for a while though we have the opportunity to grow our practice into something much more personal and powerful, all by turning in.
It’s an idea that we’ll work with throughout this workshop, with practices to help you:
- Tune in to your body and mind
- Integrate your breath and movement
- Personalise your practice
- Troubleshoot concerns
- Construct short practices for home
We’ll use our time together to add depth to specific asana and pranayama practices (including sun salutations, ujjayi breath, nadi shodana and more), lay the foundations for a home practice, and answer your specific questions and concerns.
You’ll leave having deepened your understanding of yoga, equipped with a set of tools to help you create a more nuanced and sustainable practice going forward.
This workshop is geared towards those who have some experience already of yoga (if you’re a complete beginner check out Start Your Practice, or the beginners classes) but if you’re in doubt just ask. Regardless, please do get in touch in advance if you have any injuries or are pregnant.
